Verwandelt! [Transformed!] (3+)

Ensemble production, ages 3 and up |

GRIPS Theater (Germany) |

In the theater, we love the joy of transformation. But what exactly happens when we transform? All over the world, transformations surround us. Plants, people and animals transform, as do cities, rivers and mountains. Some transformations happen by themselves whether we want them to or not. Other changes we make ourselves. At play or on stage, we slip into roles and actively choose our transformation through costumes. Again and again while playing, we change the form and function of things.
In a researching vein, the production explores the boundary between disguise and transformation, using everyday materials like fabrics to question different facets of transformation. The mobile production ventures a sensual-interactive form of theater to get young audience members involved.

GRIPS Theater is the originator of a realistic and emancipatory form of children's and youth theater. The theater develops its material, and reacts to constantly changing social and political conditions, in close dialogue with its audience and the city.
