About the production

A place that calls us together and invites us to play. Together we accompany each other, discovering things about ourselves and also discovering what we have in common. Through play, the proposal invites us to discover what makes us unique and what we have in common. Playing with logs, creating spaces, building and deconstructing, a feather appears. The discovery of the feather serves as a catalyst for play, movement, and interaction among four people who allow themselves to be touched by the softness, lightness, and fragility that the feather suggests. This dance-theatre piece features a dramaturgy based on the construction of images and movement sequences that engage children through body language, inviting contemplation. It allows young spectators to identify with and share emotions and invites children to be part of an experience that promotes reflection in a playful way.

About the artist(s) / group

Teatro al Vacío (Argentina/Mexico) is a collective engaged in ongoing research and creation, offering meaningful artistic proposals with and for children and young people, with a special focus on early childhood since 2007. Working with a minimalist, visual and physical aesthetic, the collective coordinates creative and professional development processes in the performing arts for early childhood, offers workshops for children in hospitals, schools, and festivals, and accompanies creative processes with children and adolescents — always as a space for intergenerational dialogue and participation.

Teatro al Vacío's main objective is to guarantee children's rights to art and culture, as well as respect for diversity and inclusion. It is a member of VINCULAR, the Latin American Network for Performing Arts Creation for Early Childhood; and part of Small Size, the International Network of Performing Arts for Early Childhood, and of ASSITEJ.

Jury Statement

What happens when one pauses, takes a few seconds to breathe, and allows oneself to look around, to observe the objects, the space, and the people nearby? In a world full of information, speed, stimuli, and a flood of images, "BOSQUE" is an invitation to enter a different temporality, one in which simple objects encourage us to discover movement and our relationship to the people around us.

With sensitive, dynamic, and unpredictable movements, the performers transform the stage into a space of encounters, into games that remind us of the carefree roughhousing of friendship. Play and frolicking becomes an instrument of discovery and of the transformation of space and objects. It opens the door to a journey full of endless possibilities. A journey accompanied by poetic and subtle light.

With "BOSQUE" Flores TeatroDanza and Teatro al Vacío invite the audience to (re)discover a childhood in which the connections between people help shape who we are and how we relate to the world.
